LAWA SEEKS QUALIFICATIONS FOR UP TO $950 MILLION IN PROGRAM SERVICES THROUGH NEW MATOC RFQ

(Los Angeles) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is seeking qualifications from experienced vendors for Program Services delivered through a Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) with an estimated value of up to $950 million over a term of five years. LAWA issued the request for qualifications (RFQ) this week on the City of Los Angeles’s Regional Alliance Marketplace for Procurement (RAMP) website.

LAX PROJECTS BUSIEST TRAVEL PERIOD OF THE SUMMER SEASON OVER INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND, MONTH OF JULY

(Los Angeles) Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is expecting nearly three-million passengers to use the airport during the Independence Day holiday travel period between Wednesday, June 28 through Monday, July, 10. While July is set to be the busiest month of the summer travel season drawing approximately seven-million guests to the airport over the course of the month.

BOARD OF AIRPORT COMMISSIONERS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES HISTORIC BUDGET FOR LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS

(Los Angeles, CA) On Thursday, June 1, the Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) unanimously approved a budget for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) in the amount of $1.076 billion for Fiscal Year 2023-24. This is the largest budget ever approved by BOAC. The expense budget is matched against projected revenues of approximately $2.005 billion for the same period, resulting in projected net revenues of $928 million before adjustment for capitalized labor. These net revenues are available to pay debt service, fund reserves and fund capital projects. LAWA’s budget expenditures support the daily operations, as well as provide capacity to fulfill federal mandates for the safety and security of airport operations. LAWA is a proprietary department of the City of Los Angeles, which means that it receives no taxpayer funds for its operations.

The milestone represents the second to last major phase before the full Delta Sky Way project opens to the public later this summer. Together through a joint $2.3 billion investment of both LAWA and Delta funding, the partners are modernizing one of the airline’s key global hubs.

LAX PROJECTS BUSIEST TRAVEL DAYS SINCE PRE-PANDEMIC DURING MEMORIAL DAY TRAVEL PERIOD

(Los Angeles) Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) could exceed 218,000 daily passengers during peak travel days around the Memorial Day holiday weekend – making the days between Thursday, May 25 through Monday May, 29 the highest for passenger volume the airport has seen since early 2020. To help alleviate increased traffic around the Central Terminal Area (CTA) a second cell phone waiting lot will open for guests to wait until their passengers are ready to be picked-up.

LAWA’S AUTOMATED PEOPLE MOVER NAMED 2023 TRAILBLAZER PROJECT OF THE YEAR BY LOS ANGELES SUSTAINABILITY COALITION

(Los Angeles) Opening in 2024, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA)’s Automated People Mover (APM) has garnered another significant sustainability honor. At the Los Angeles Sustainability Coalition (LASC)’s annual Trailblazer Awards Dinner, the APM was named LASC’s 2023 Trailblazer Project of the Year. Regarded by many as the centerpiece of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)’s multi-billion-dollar transformation, the electric train features six stations – three inside the airport’s Central Terminal Area (CTA) and three outside – along a 2.25-mile elevated guideway. Once operational, passengers will have time-guaranteed access to the CTA in 10 minutes or less, creating a streamlined airport arrival and departure experience.
